This Tweet makes a point that resonated a lot with me: our brains evolved to keep us alive, not to keep us happy.
When we're anxious, our brain is just trying to keep us alive by making us think of everything that could go wrong.
People with anxiety just have an extra-sensitive threat scanner. As her doctor puts it "it's like a superpower, you just have to learn to control it".
My doctor and I were discussing my anxiety and she said "Brains are made to keep us alive. They're not made to keep us happy." And I can't stop thinking about that.
